From Winter Wonderland to Kew Gardens, Hampton Court Palace, Leicester Square, and many other wonderful places, London is sure to please.
Winter Wonderland
- Winter Wonderland: A British version of the European Christmas Market, Winter Wonderland is one of the most popular events in London during the month of November/December. It's a dazzling display of lights and sounds and is home to ice-skating rinks, food stalls and other holiday-themed attractions. Admission is free and you can spend the day wandering around.
Winter Wonderlands: With a huge ice rink in Hyde Park, this is a great activity for kids of all ages. A great place to learn how to skate or practice your moves, the rink is perfect for both beginners and experts alike. The Hyde Park venue is well-lit for the festive season and is open late all month long.
Christmas markets: Leicester Square is the place to be for Christmas shoppers, with handcrafted gifts galore and decorations galore. There are also many family-friendly activities and Christmas shows to enjoy. Little ones can enjoy Santa's grotto, the annual Nutcracker Parade and a pre-recorded Cintomime performance.
Winter Wonderland: Christmas in London is magical. With its snowy streets and colorful decorations, the city becomes a winter wonderland. While you are there, you'll have plenty of opportunities to explore the city's many markets. You can find a great selection of holiday gifts at affordable prices.
Kew Gardens
- If you want to experience a magical winter wonderland, then Christmas at Kew is a must-do! The gardens come alive with sparkling tunnels of light, dancing waterside reflections, and trees bathed in jewel-like colour. And don't miss Father Christmas!
If you have never been to Kew Gardens, then you're missing out on one of the most beautiful gardens in the city. The gardens are known for their spectacular Rose Garden, located behind the Palm House. With over one hundred species of rose, the stunning garden is a must-visit for any visitor. The bold plantings of mixed shrub roses are a sight to behold.
The gardens are large and offer a variety of activities for families. Kids will love exploring the humongous Hive, a gigantic lattice structure with hundreds of glistening LED lights. The Princess of Wales' Conservatory is a wonderful place to see plants from around the world. The Conservatory features ten climate zones and is a delight to visit year-round. Leicester Square
- Leicester Square has been home to show business since 1670, and in the festive season, it turns into a true winter wonderland. You'll find traditional Christmas markets, sparkling entertainment, and Santa's grotto. You can also visit the central gardens for a unique Christmas show.
The Christmas Show promises side-splitting humour and a hearty eyeful. This entertaining stage production is a great alternative to the usual west end Christmas shows. This year, the show runs until 3 January 2019, so you'll have plenty of time to catch it before the big day.
Another new addition to the Leicester Square scene is Hotel Indigo. From its roof terrace, you can enjoy amazing views of the city, including the London Eye. The terrace is equipped with floor-to-ceiling glass facades and a balcony.
A mulled wine and cider stands will provide hot beverages. The market also has a variety of treats and foods for sale. Mulled wine, made with red wine, spices, and raisins, is a traditional drink during the Christmas season.
Hampton Court Palace
- The Hampton Court Palace is one of the grandest palaces in London. Built over 500 years ago, it has been the home of many a royal, including Henry VIII and all six of his wives. Throughout the centuries, it has witnessed many weddings, births, and deaths. These days, you can enjoy the beautiful gardens and other family-friendly amenities.
The palace is perfect for a winter family outing. The gardens are breathtaking, and the Palace hosts interactive storytelling sessions for children. There are also lunchtime lectures and Elizabethan cookery classes. The family-friendly atmosphere makes the Hampton Court Palace a perfect place to unwind after a day of exploring the grounds.
The museum offers tours for all ages. If you'd rather stay overnight, you can book a nighttime room at the palace. You can learn about the witch hunts of the 16th century or Tudor England, and relax in one of the luxurious King's State Apartments. Afterward, you can continue enjoying the daytime activities.
The former home of Henry VIII makes for a dramatic backdrop for the ice skating experience. With Tudor architecture and beautiful lights, the palace is a great place to skate during the winter season. Also check out Somerset House, which was featured in the movie Love Actually. It is a stunning setting with a giant Christmas tree. There's also a Moet & Chandon Skate Lounge for those who want to relax with hot drinks.
Olympia's Spirit of Christmas Fair
- For 21 years the Spirit of Christmas Fair has brought together some of the finest independent designers to celebrate the festive season in London. Each brand in the fair is chosen based on their uniqueness, quality and design, making it one of the best opportunities to source gifts before Christmas. The 21st edition will feature over 200 new brands and hundreds of old favourites, making it a must-attend event in the social calendar. The fair will also offer plenty of inspiration for festive entertaining.
A highlight of the Fair is the artisan market. Homewares are sold by makers and independent brands from all over the UK. You can meet some of the people behind the brands and hear their stories. There will be live music and celebrity appearances from designers and makers as well as plenty of delicious food and drinks.
The Spirit of Christmas Fair is free to enter, although tickets are required for the Santa's Grotto and some performances. However, children may be accompanied by one adult for free. The festival also includes plenty of Christmas lights, which will add to the festive atmosphere. Before you head to the event, make sure to find out when the lights will be switched on.
Julie's
- If you have ever seen Julie Andrews, you may have remembered her from the film Mary Poppins. In the Disney video release, she portrayed the character Mary Poppins. The film also featured several English performers, including Vic Oliver, Fred Emney, and Pat Kirkwood. Kirkwood had long legs and was beautiful.
Julie's dreamed of walking down the aisle with her future husband and celebrating their new life together. Their wedding day was a magical event; she walked down the aisle to the tune of "Everybody's Free," performed by Quindon Tarver, a singer from the Romeo and Juliet soundtrack. They spent their honeymoon in St. Lucia, where Julie's sister was born and raised.

Not only is the restaurant celebrating its 50th birthday next year, but it is also introducing a special lunch menu. The restaurant serves modern British cuisine in an intimate and quirky environment. The interiors of the restaurant are elegant and chic, and the terrace is a great place to enjoy a meal.
Novotel London Excel
- The Novotel London Excel offers rooms furnished in the current style of the Novotel. Rooms have light wood furnishings and include a double bed, as well as a sofa bed that can be folded out and used as a second double bed. The hotel also has a fitness center, bar, and a restaurant. The terrace restaurant features views of the Victoria Basin and the Excel Exhibition Center. In addition, the hotel offers free Internet access, as well as free printing.
The Novotel London Excel is close to the London City Airport and the Docklands Light Railway. The DLR offers fast connections to many of the major destinations in London. If you're coming from another direction, you can change trains at Canning Town or Beckton to reach the hotel. Alternatively, you can travel to nearby Stratford by taking the London Dockland Railway, which provides easy access to Central London.
The Novotel London Excel offers quiet rooms and is close to several attractions. Room amenities include a refrigerator, kettle, and large safe. You can also use the fitness center and sauna. The hotel also offers family rooms, which have a double bed and a sofa.
